Breakfast Grains: A Super Supper
Eggs are featured in almost every baking menu and an important protein in our diets. Souffles will be served with various flavorings: including Smoked Salmon, Cheese, Sausage and Chocolate!! Scotch Eggs, a centuries-old recipe, feature soft-boiled eggs wrapped in sausage, then rolled in bread crumbs/cornflakes, then fried and baked. The universally loved Crème Brulee provides the culinary grand finale, complete with live crust caramelization with a blowtorch!!
Cornflakes, Oatmeal, Grits… sound like a good breakfast trio? Think again!! For this quarter’s Culture N Cuisine, we will be featuring an entire dinner based on breakfast grains. Cornflakes make excellent alternatives to bread crumbs for frying, and their delicious crunch can enrich the dessert experience in baked sweets and even Fried Ice Cream. Grits are great for seafood, like shrimp, and the texture of oatmeal can be interpreted in classical Italian dishes like Risotto. Have fun with us enjoying breakfast grains for dinner!!
